East Little Rock

East Little Rock refers to the majority of the city of Little Rock, Arkansas located east of Interstate 30. It is primarily industrial in development. Little Rock National Airport and its environs, the Port of Little Rock, and various manufacturers characterize the low-lying easternmost end of Arkansas' capital city. A few residential areas can also be found scattered throughout East Little Rock, leading to census-designated places like College Station and Sweet Home.

East Little Rock frequently contrasts sharply with Little Rock's newest, westernmost neighborhoods, both physically and economically. Interstate 630, which has its first westbound exit near East 15th Street, connects the two parts of the city. Since the late 2004 opening of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park near the Arkansas River's banks, a portion of East Little Rock has gotten a lot of attention. The construction and subsequent opening of the facility and its adjoining Clinton School of Public Service, both affiliated with the University of Arkansas, has acted as a catalyst in plans to further improve the area along the riverfront and downtown's River Market District. On January 30, 2006, the new Heifer International headquarters adjacent to the Clinton library campus opened as the next major addition to East Little Rock.
